10:30 – Pig out! Literally! Refershments will be served and that includes a couple of roasted pig! At this time, witness some of the hottest BC Bowlers duke it out for the title of BC Indoor Champion! Winner of this tournament will represent BC in the Canadian Indoor Singles Championship!
It’s that time of the year again!
The club is scheduled to open up to everyone on September 7th from 10am – 4pm daily!!!!
See you there!
This year’s BC Indoor Singles Championship will be Sep 24-26!!
There are some recent changes according to Bowls BC concerning the Canadian Qualifier to the World Indoor Championships.
* All participants in the Canadian Qualifier (now known as Canadian Indoor Championship) must qualify through a Provincial Playdown.
* All provinces will be allocated one position with an extra slot open to Ontario and immediate past champion. If a province fails/declines to submit an entry then host province (BC) will attempt to fill in the vacancies through finishing position at the Provincial Playdowns.
* There will be no wild card entries.
In other words, if you want to play in the Nationals, you have to play in the Provincials…no wild card this year!
Bring your friends and neighbours down to the club Saturday September 25th. There will be some high level bowling going on that weekend too as the BC Indoor Singles Championship will be going on.

Congratulations to Vincent Mai who placed 3rd at the World Cup Indoor Bowls Championship in Australia. This is the highest placing a Canadian Man has reached at the World Cup!
Curtasy of John A.
Hi All;
Well, they played the finals for the World Cup Men’s Indoor Singles and, unfortunately, Vince Mai lost in the semi-finals.
As mentioned previously, Vince played Leif Selby in the semis. Vince had played the 2-time defending champion in the round robin, losing in the tie-breaker. This time around the score was different (10-7, 9-1), but the result was the same.
BTW, don’t be fooled by the 9-1 score – that’s a close set. They play 9 ends and so in 8 of the 9 ends a single point was scored.
Leif went on to defeat his Australian compatriot and take his 3rd straight World Indoor Title.
Vince finished a very respectable 3rd, the highest placing a Canadian man has reached at the World Cup.
Great stuff Vince! Well done!
See you all on the greens!

Thanks BowlsAustralia for Tweeting the score end after end!

While we enjoy the rain, we can take a peak at what our ‘Nucks are doing down in Warilla at the World Cup.
All of the sectional play is complete and we’ve had 2 very good results.
Vince Mai finished 2nd in his section with a 5-1 record, with his only loss being to defending champion Australian Lief Selbey. Vince will have a chance to avenge his tie-breaker loss. Vince plays Lief in one of the 2 semi-finals.
Kelly McKerihen finished in that toughest position, 4th, in the Junior (under 25) Women’s. After winning only 1 of her first 3 games (that one win being over last year’s Junior champion Genevieve Baildon from New Zealand), she rattled off 4 wins in a row before losing in straight sets to this year’s champion Samantha Shannahan from Australia. There is no play-off for the juniors, just the round robin results. Kelly finished tied for 3rd with Singapore at 5-3, but lost out on sets won over the course of the tournament. Still, a very good result and I expect we’ll be hearing about Kelly’s success internationally in the years to come.
Our Marie Taylor had a very tough time of it, coming so close in virtually every game she played. Although she finished 0-6, she lost 3 games in the tie-breaker and was competitive right up to the last game.
Dylan Jacobs had a great start, but a rough finish in the Junior Men’s. His 3-0 start slowly evaporated and he finished 3-9 for the tournament, which was good for 10th overall.
You know Vince will have his A game against Aus and we’ll be back to let you know what his results were.
